Taylor Swift is reportedly engaged to boyfriend Joe Alwyn, according to the Sun.
The outlet claims the actor popped the question months ago, but the two have āonly toldā their inner circle.
āBasically immediate family, and trusted, very old friends,ā the source said. āEveryone has been sworn to secrecy, too.ā
The informant further alleged that Swift only wears her “beautiful ring” in private.
āAgain, only a handful of people know details about the wedding and Taylor hasnāt even told some of her team about the engagement,” the source continued.
āThey want their love to stay away from the cameras as much as possible. This is just for them. And if and when they do exchange vows, there most definitely wonāt be any Vogue, Rolling Stone or Hello! magazines there. It will be simple and elegant — like them.ā
Page Six has reached out to reps for Swift and Alwyn for comment.
Back in April, Alwyn addressed rumors claiming he secretly proposed to Swift in an interview with WSJ. Magazine.
āIf I had a pound for every time I think Iāve been told Iāve been engaged, then Iād have a lot of pound coins,ā he said at the time.
āI mean, the truth is, if the answer was yes, I wouldnāt say, and if the answer was no, I wouldnāt say.ā
Back in February, Life & Style was the first outlet to report Swift and Alwyn were engaged.
While Swift, 32, and Alwyn, 31, have remained notoriously private as a couple since they were first linked in 2017, this certainly isnāt the first time there have been reports of an engagement.
In January 2020, Swift herself added fuel to the rumor mill with what looked like a large diamond ring on her left ring finger in her Netflix documentary, āMiss Americana.ā
āIām aware people want to know about that side of things,ā Alwyn told Vogue back in 2018. āI think we have been successfully very private and that has now sunk in for people ā¦ but I really prefer to talk about work.ā
However, Swift subsequently brought Alwyn into her work: He helped co-write two tracks on her 2020 album āFolkloreā ā āExileā and āBettyā ā under the pseudonym William Bowery, and also contributed to the tunes āevermoreā and āChampagne Problemsā on āFolkloreāsā sister album, āEvermore.ā
In her acceptance speech at the 2021 Grammy Awards, Swift thanked Alwyn, saying, āJoe, who is the first person that I play every single song that I write,ā before continuing, āAnd I had the best time writing songs with you in quarantine.ā
In November 2020, Swift told no less an authority on the pressures of maintaining a life in the public eye than Paul McCartney that ābeing in the relationship I am in now, I have definitely made decisions that have made my life feel more like a real life and less like just a storyline to be commented on in tabloids.ā
Previously in the interview, she said, “I canāt control if thereās going to be a fake weird headline about us in the news tomorrow.ā
