Haley Joel Osment joins the undead on ‘What We Do in the Shadows’

Warning — This article contains spoilers from the “What We Do in the Shadows” Season 2 premiere.

Haley Joel Osment isn’t just seeing dead people these days, he’s joining them.

The 32-year-old actor tells Page Six that although playing an undead character in the Season 2 premiere of “What We Do in the Shadows” — which follows a group of vampires living on Staten Island — is new territory for him, he’s becoming a pro at death scenes.

“In the last couple years and even earlier in my career, I’ve had a run of getting killed in a lot of different ways,” the “Sixth Sense” star laughed. “I’ve been shot, stabbed, electrocuted, had a couple different diseases and most recently had my head smashed into a sink, so I’m definitely racking up the various deaths.”

In “What We Do in the Shadows,” Osment plays Topher — a character who dies and is then brought back to life, but continually tries to kill the vampire’s human servant (a.k.a. the vampire’s “familiar”), Guillermo (Harvey Guillén). His character is stabbed, loses an arm and falls off a balcony all in the same fight scene with Guillén.

“It was a really technically challenging shoot, in a great way, just because I have so much gear on me at all times,” he said. “The missing arm is one layer and then I had a metal breastplate so Harvey could stab me without actually killing me.”

Osment added that his prosthetic arm in the FX series is actually the same arm that was used on the set of Amazon’s “The Boys,” in which the actor also guest-starred as a character named Mesmer, who was brutally murdered by series star Karl Urban’s character.

He added of the gruesome head-smashing scene in “The Boys,” “Karl Urban is such a wonderfully intense actor … [It’s] an honor to be killed by somebody like that.”

As for Topher, well, he may be dead, but he’s not really dead.

“I do not know anything about the future plans for the character, but I am happy that in this world, nothing truly seems final,” Osment said. “So I think the door is definitely open if they want to bring him back.”

“What We Do in the Shadows” airs Wednesdays on FX.
