On Monday night’s premiere of “The Bachelor,” two contestants showed up to meet Season 25 lead Matt James wearing the exact same red dress — but it probably wasn’t a coincidence.
Franchise alum Demi Burnett, who made her debut on Colton Underwood’s season of “The Bachelor” in 2019, recently opened up about how the show’s producers coax contestants into accidental twinning moments.
“On my season, Heather [Martin] and this girl Laura, they had the same dress on,” the 25-year-old explained on Us Weekly’s “Here for the Right Reasons” podcast.
“The producers tell you which of the dresses they think you should wear, so they probably wanted to stir something up.”
This scheme can backfire, however. “Heather and the girl Laura looked at each other and they’re, like, ‘Oh my gosh, we’re wearing the same dress, that’s awesome!’ They’re like, ‘You look amazing in it,'” Burnett continued.
“So, it wasn’t a big deal and I feel like that’s what happened this time too.”
During Monday’s premiere, Alana Milne and Anna Redman both began their search for love wearing Nookie’s “Viva” gown ($269), which features a body-con fit, convertible straps and a subtle mermaid silhouette.
Burnett described packing for her season of “The Bachelor” as “a nightmare.”
“Well, I was poor before, I didn’t have any money,” she said. “So I spent my last paycheck and I just bought a bunch of dresses on sale at Dillard’s. That’s where I got all my rose ceremony dresses and cocktail dresses and swimsuits and stuff like that.”
Burnett’s parents chipped in for one particularly special look.
“For my night one dress, I was talking to my parents and I was like, ‘I really need a good dress for this. This is like a huge moment.’ They were like, ‘OK, we’ll buy your night one dress,'” she recalled.
“My parents bought me one dress. I guarantee those girls’ parents bought them all their dresses.”
