Driver charged with killing Nicki Minaj’s dad in NY hit-and-run sued by mom for $150M

The Long Island driver charged with killing Nicki Minaj’s father in a hit and run last month has been sued for $150 million by the rapper’s now-widowed mother.

Charles Polevich, 70, allegedly struck Robert Maraj, 64, with his car as the Queens rapper’s father was walking across the street in Mineola on Feb. 12.

Polevich got out of his vehicle and asked Maraj if he was okay, but then left the scene without offering aid or alerting authorities, prosecutors have alleged.

He is charged with leaving the scene of an incident causing death and with tampering with physical evidence.

Maraj’s widow Carol Maraj sued Polevich in state Supreme Court in Nassau County on Friday, attorneys Ben Crump and Paul Napoli announced.

“He [Polevich] was not only irresponsible and negligent, but more concerned about running away and hiding than seeking help,” Crump wrote on Instagram.

“Polevich’s behavior was criminal, cowardly, and immoral. We will hold him responsible for his reckless actions that led to Robert Maraj’s death!,” the lawyer wrote.

Polevich’s lawyer, Marc Gann, told Law&Crime that an insurance company would handle the civil matter; he has declined to comment on the case.

Gann said his client had a “tremendous amount of empathy for the family, the loss that they’ve suffered, and expressed condolences,” according to the outlet.
