NBC chiefs are scrapping live audiences from the “Today” show over Coronavirus fears, they announced on Wednesday.
Anchors Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb greet fans on Rockefeller Plaza every day, alongside their co-stars Al Roker, Craig Melvin and Carson Daly, while Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager only launched their twice-weekly shows with a live studio audience last month.
But NBC is taking guidance from the city as a spokeswoman told The Post: “The safety of our guests and employees is our top priority.
“As a precautionary measure, starting tomorrow, Thursday, March 12, we have decided to suspend live audiences for ‘Today’ and ‘Today with Hoda & Jenna & Friends’.
“Per guidance from New York City officials, the company is hoping to do its part to help to decrease the rate of transmission in our communities. Our shows will continue filming on their regular schedule, and currently, there will be no impact on air dates.”
The news comes after we revealed how ABC has axed audiences from “Good Morning America”, “The View” and “Live with Kelly and Ryan” as a precaution.
