Camila Cabello admits to stealing (a pencil) from Kensington Palace

Paging London Tower.

Camila Cabello has admitted to a bit of sticky-fingered mischief while she was visiting Kensington Palace in October. The singer, 22, who visited the royal home in October with BBC Radio 1 host Greg James as part of the Teen Heroes celebration, recalled the incident Tuesday during her on-air reunion with James.

“We were about to meet [Prince] William and Kate [Middleton] and I said, ‘You’ve got to steal something,'” James prompted Cabello, remembering a specific pencil the pair had their eyes on.

“And I was like, ‘You triple doggy dare me?'” Cabello recalled. “And you can’t not do a triple doggy dare. If there’s anything I’ve learned in my life, it’s that. So I did it.”

James, for his part, told the palace staff on Cabello, so she responded by hiding the offending pencil in her mom’s purse, as one does.

“My mom was like, ‘No, we have to give it back, we have to give back the pencil.’ And I was like ‘No, he triple doggy dared me,'” Cabello said. “So I still have it. I’m sorry, William, and I’m sorry, Kate. Honestly, I’m just so happy to get it off my chest now because I haven’t been able to sleep for the past three weeks.”

Kensington Palace was apparently unaware of the pencil-stealing until Cabello’s interview Tuesday, when the palace responded to the BBC’s tweet about the incident with the “side eyes” emoji, which presumably means they aren’t too upset.
