As former Giants star Michael Strahan is embroiled in a bitter custody battle with his ex, Jean Muggli, some former neighbors recall in hindsight that the duo “always had a contentious relationship.”
When the couple lived in Montclair, NJ, a resident at the time told us, “They would have loud fights.” There was even buzz that when Strahan was out of the home, “that weekend, she threw his stuff outside and put up a ‘yard sale’ sign. There was his personal football stuff and personal effects.”
The former resident lamented, “I was sorry later on that I did not buy something.”
The couple were two of Montclair’s most high-profile residents, and Strahan even considered a run for local office around 2004. They’d married in 1999. By 2005, their sensational divorce was making headlines.
But still, a surprised neighbor told the New York Times at the time of the split: “I never thought there was a piece of trouble anywhere. We were shocked. You just don’t know your neighbors when you think you know your neighbors.”
Strahan and Muggli are now at war over custody of their teen daughters.
A rep for Strahan did not comment, and Muggli’s attorney did not immediately get back to us.
