Look out Rihanna, Emily Ratajkowski has her eyes on the underwear industry.
On Wednesday, the model, 27, announced the expansion of her swimwear line Inamorata into lingerie. “A little over a year of @inamoratawoman and I’m so thrilled to finally share what I’ve been working on for you guys,” Ratajkowski wrote on Instagram. “Introducing BODY, a category that is so much more than lingerie. I hope you guys love it as much as I do.”
The initial offerings include eighteen styles of lacy bralettes, ribbed bodysuits and seamless thongs in a range of colors and prices from $18 to $55.
Ratajkowski models the collection herself and named the pieces after well-known New York City streets like Bowery and Canal. Keeping with the theme, the images were shot in a bodega in Brooklyn.
“I was trying to evoke the feeling of a confident girl who wears her bathing suit all day and how that attitude would translate when you’re not at the beach. I asked myself: How exactly does that feeling fit into our lives in New York?” EmRata told Vogue in an interview about the launch. “Ultimately it is about a cotton panty that you have on around the house and then wear out to get coffee.”
It’s not a surprise that the “I Feel Pretty” star would venture from barely-there bikini designs into underwear and tiny dresses. She first teased the collection in November 2018, promising a release before the end of the year with a website for the previous name, M/RATA. Though the former site is still live, it seems that the model has decided to consolidate her offerings under the same umbrella as her nineties-inspired swimwear line.
Though Ratajkowski is seen practically year-round wearing her own bathing suit designs, she’s long been a fan of posing in the nude. Perhaps now, her feed will be comprised of slightly more covered-up selfies.
