Katie Couric hits the beach in East Hampton ahead of bombshell memoir

Katie Couric was snapped smiling ear-to-ear Friday morning during a casual beach jaunt in East Hampton. The sighting comes amid controversial scuttlebutt surrounding her upcoming memoir, “Going There,” in which she calls out several of her industry peers by name.

The former NBC correspondent was seen hitting the beach in a blue hoodie, green capri leggings and white sneakers. Her assistant, Adriana, joined the “Today” alum in a black and orange sweater, blue jeans and sandals.

Couric owns a $6.3 million beachfront home in the town, which she purchased in 2006. She now lives on the seven-bedroom property with her second husband, John Molner, whom she married in 2014.

Her first husband, Jay Monahan, died from cancer in 1998.

It’s uncertain if the news personality will dive deeply into her relationships in “Going There,” as it will largely tackle her take on the cutthroat nature of TV news and fellow broadcast jounos such as Diane Sawyer, whom she declared her “rival” during their morning TV war.

“I loved that I was getting under Diane’s skin,” she writes, although she freely admits that Sawyer got under hers just as much.

She even describes Sawyer’s infamous interview with Whitney Houston as almost exploitative, writing: “There was a very fine line between a revealing interview and the exploitation of troubled, often traumatized people in service of tawdry tidbits and sensational sound bites (e.g., Diane bearing down on an agitated Whitney Houston about eating disorders and drug use, which yielded the memorable comeback ‘crack is whack’).”

Couric also claims in the new tome that she “heard the whispers” about longtime co-anchor Matt Lauer’s lecherous behavior behind the scenes at the “Today” show.
