While tourist travel to the Dominican Republic has slumped after a recent string of mysterious deaths and illnesses in the Caribbean nation — not everyone’s panicking. Some are partying.
Joseph R. Gannascoli — who played mobster Vito Spatafore on “The Sopranos” and has become a celebrity chef — told us of his stay over July Fourth weekend, “Happy to say, I’m in the Dominican Republic … and couldn’t be better. Nobody’s scared, everyone’s drinking everything and anything.”
Gannascoli said he’s staying at the Royalton Bavaro, which opened last year.
The Post reported on Friday that flight bookings from the US to the Dominican were making a slow recovery after dropping in July and August by 84.4 percent compared to the same period in 2018.
The ex-”Sopranos” star has reason to celebrate: He’s in talks for his novel, “A Meal to Die For: A Culinary Novel of Crime,” to be made into a movie. He’s also been working with a security technology company, IntraLogic Solutions, to promote school safety.
