Olivia Jade Giannulli is back on YouTube — but she isn’t speaking about the college admissions scandal.
The 20-year-old influencer announced her comeback to the platform in a video Sunday — saying she decided to return to the platform despite not being able to discuss the scandal her family has been embroiled in for nearly nine months.
“Obviously I’ve been gone for a really long time, and as much as I wish I could talk about all of this… it’s just, unfortunately, the reason for that is because I’m legally not allowed to speak on anything going on right now,” Giannulli said in the two-minute clip.
“This is the best I can do and I want to move on with my life,” Giannulli added. “It’s so hard because I’m not trying to make this about me or how I’ve been because that’s not the point of this.”
Giannulli’s parents, “Fuller House” actress Lori Loughlin and fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, are accused of forking over a $500,000 bribe to get her and her sister, Isabella Giannulli, into the University of Southern California as bogus rowing recruits. They have pleaded not guilty.
The alleged scheme included having the girls pose for “action” pictures on rowing machines, which were submitted to the school alongside phony athletic profiles, prosecutors have alleged.
In the two-minute clip titled “hi again,” Giannulli said she “really missed” filming videos for her YouTube channel, something she described as her passion and “a huge part of me.”
The social media star has some 1.9 million YouTube followers, and regularly posted style tip videos before her parents were indicted in March.
Giannulli said she went back and forth on when to come back to the platform for “seven or eight months,” knowing she wouldn’t be able to discuss the case.
“There’s no point in me just talking for 10 minutes to the camera about how I wish I could say something when I really can’t, so I’m gonna leave it at that,” she said.
Giannulli said she was “terrified” to post Sunday’s video but that “I know that I also want to start taking smaller steps in the right direction.”
“The moral of the story is, I’ve missed you guys so much and I’m just really excited to start filming again and to start uploading and I really hope you enjoy the vlog,” she said, ending the video with a note on the screen that read “Thank you for watching. I’ll see you soon.”
The clip had more than 350,000 views by Sunday afternoon, with 6,000 comments, many of them supportive of Giannulli.
