Don’t expect Archie to come out of his bunker anytime soon.
Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, reportedly think of their new son as a “private citizen” and plan to “shield him” from the public eye.
The Sunday Times of London, citing sources close to the family, speculated that Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, the youngest member of the royal family, may be kept away from crowds of admirers — and will show up at only “big family occasions with his parents.”
Proud dad Prince Harry has said he believes that combining private life with an official royal role requires a “tricky balancing act.”
A friend of Harry has said that privacy was more precious to the prince “than to almost any other member of the royal family,’’ the newspaper reported.
Even senior members of the royal family — including Prince of Wales Charles and his wife Camilla — have not yet met the youngest royal, according to the Daily Mail.
But the newspaper added they may visit Harry and Meghan — not to mention Archie — over the weekend when they return from a trip to Germany.
Prince William said both he and his wife, Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, “couldn’t wait to meet their nephew.’’
There’s also speculation Harry and Meghan may take the baby with them when they visit Africa in October, the Sun said.
The Sussexes are not using a title for their son, hoping that will help him to live a more normal life.
Archie will have the right to be known as His Royal Highness when the Prince of Wales becomes king, but he is not obliged to use the title, according to the Sun.
The family is living in Frogmore Cottage on the Windsor estate.
There’s only one problem with that.
Parts of the house are visible from a park that’s open to the public, so more trees are being planted to block the view.
Harry’s former press secretary, Miguel Head, has told the Harvard Gazette that freedom of the press is very important to Harry but he finds dealing with it is “harder.’’
Archie is seventh in line to the throne.
And since his mom, Meghan, is American and he’s likely to get dual citizenship, the baby could be both president of the United States and heir to the British throne, Town and Country magazine said.
But that’s “a pretty major stretch.”
Under the US Constitution, the president must be a “natural born citizen.”
