Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino speaks out after jail sentence

Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino took to social media to thank his supporters after he was sentenced to eight months in jail

“We are very happy to put this behind us,” he wrote on Instagram on Friday. “Thank you So much for all the Love & Support.”

His post was complete with photos from his day in Newark court, including shots of him joined by his “Jersey Shore” cast members and others with fianceé Lauren Pesce.

Sorrentino, 37, who plead guilty to tax evasion, asked the judge for a “second chance,”  in his bid to stay out of jail.

“I’m deeply sorry for my past actions. Today I’m the man that I should’ve been years ago,” he said. “I’ve worked tirelessly to overcome my demons and put my life back together.”

Since dodging taxes on his income became a legal “situation,” the reality star has committed to staying sober — a storyline that played out on the MTV spin-off “Jersey Shore: Family Vacation.”

He had struggled with prescription drug abuse and went to rehab twice.

Pesce also posted a message on Instagram of similar sentiment.

“Thank you for all of your messages of love & support. We are happy to put an end to this chapter and excited to move forward in our future. We are blessed to have our health and the outpouring of support from family, friends & fans. We love you,” she wrote.

A date for Sorrentino and his brother, Marc — who was sentenced to two years in prison — to surrender has yet to be set.
