Demi Lovato will remain in rehab through the rest of the year after her drug overdose in July.
An insider told Entertainment Tonight that the singer will stay in her East Coast treatment center at least until early 2019.
“Demi is taking her sobriety extremely serious [sic], and knows she has a long road ahead of her,” the source said. “At the end of the day, Demi is doing this for herself. She has to stay sober for her, but every time she has family or friends visit her it reminds her of all the other important people in her life that she needs to fight for as well.”
“Demi is thankful she’s still alive and is doing whatever she can to never get to that point again.”
Lovato’s mother recently said that Lovato, 26, is three months sober.
It’s unclear what drug or combination of drugs Lovato used at the time of her overdose.
At the time of her overdose, Lovato’s assistant reportedly found the former Disney starlet unresponsive at her Hollywood Hills home and called paramedics to the scene.
Emergency personnel allegedly revived Lovato with Narcan, an emergency drug used to reverse opiate overdoses.
She was hospitalized for over a week before going to treatment in Chicago, then reportedly transferring to an East Coast facility where she currently remains.
Among the songbird’s visitors in treatment are her family members, as well as ex-boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama.
A rep for Lovato did not immediately return a request for comment on the duration of her treatment.
