Jimmy Kimmel ended the all-virtual Emmys 2020 the only way possible — with a “sad” Zoom afterparty.
At the end of Sunday night’s show, Kimmel called out Zoom meeting ID 4599567155. At first, it required an additional password to enter, but after a couple of minutes, the meeting said it maxed out at 100 people. It didn’t stop viewers from trying to get in, though.
“that zoom key *was* legit, but it reached the max participants already. anyone get in? the password was baba booey #Emmys,” wrote one viewer.
“looks like I’m not getting into the sad zoom afterparty #emmys,” tweeted another who faced the max capacity notice.
“I GUESSED THE PASSWORD FOR THE EMMYS ZOOM BUT ITS FULL AND I CANT JOIN I WANT TO CRY,” tweeted a person who was on the outs of the exclusive Zoom.
A couple of lucky users made it into the Zoom, only to find themselves facing strangers in a large chat.
“Let me tell you the story of my 2 minutes in the #Emmys after party zoom….” tweeted one person who gained access.
It’s unclear if any celebrities joined the “sad” afterparty.
