Tara Reid breaks silence on Delta Air Lines flight disturbance

Tara Reid wants to set the record straight.

The “Sharknado” actress released a statement on her Instagram regarding her removal from a Delta flight on Monday, claiming the airline’s statement about her causing a “disturbance on board” was “completely false.”

Reid claims that she and her dog, who is an emotional support puppy, had the proper paperwork in order for the animal to travel with her, but Delta wanted her to stow him.

“The flight attendant wanted me to put my dog in its carry on and in the overhead bin which was an absurd request considering animals cannot breathe in there, let alone an incident such as this one which took place some time ago and that puppy unfortunately died in that very similar overhead bid, therefore I refused to comply with this ridiculous request,” she wrote.

The incident to which Reid is referring is when a United Airlines flight attendant forced a dog into an overhead compartment.

Reid, 42, said that the flight attendant then wanted her to put her dog in the “belly of the plane.”

“I again refused another ridiculous suggestion, seemed to me there was no reasonable options offered to me at the time, what I knew for a fact is that I was not going to abandoned [sic] my dog. I gracefully declined and deboarded the plane on my own accord without any incident,” she continued.

She moved to another, “dog friendly” airline.

But an insider told Page Six on Wednesday that Reid’s statement is inconsistent with what actually occurred on board the plane and that a flight attendant requested Reid put the empty crate in the overhead compartment with the dog remaining on her lap. Reid continued to be unruly and disruptive, so Delta ultimately determined that she was unfit to fly.

Delta Air Lines also confirmed to Page Six on Tuesday that Reid was removed from her flight from LAX to NYC on Monday afternoon for causing a “disturbance on board.” A spokesman said the flight eventually took off “following a short delay.”

Delta Air Lines did not immediately return a request for comment on Wednesday.
