Vancouver Island where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are staying hit by earthquake

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s Canadian residency is off to a shaky start.

The Canadian island where the couple has been holed up since breaking off from the Royal Family was struck by an earthquake Friday, according to reports.

The 4.5-magnitude quake hit around 1:35 p.m. Pacific Standard Time, about 30 miles off the coast of Ucluelet on the western edge of Vancouver Island.

Residents described frightening tremors, which could be felt as far as 150 miles from the earthquake’s center, according to the Vancouver Sun.

The earthquake is British Columbia’s second in a month; tremors ranging in magnitude from 3.6 to 6.0 were reported off Vancouver Island at the end of December, while Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were visiting during a 6-week holiday.

There were no reports of damage or injuries from the Friday quake as of Saturday morning.

Markle has been living on the island since early January, along with baby Archie and the couple’s two dogs. Harry joined them Tuesday.
