Jennifer Lopez’s Super Bowl 2020 makeup took 10 hours

It takes a full day of glam to look this good.

Jennifer Lopez‘s Super Bowl 2020 halftime show performance may have only lasted about 10 minutes, but it took that many hours to create the pop superstar’s beauty look for the Big Game, according to her makeup artist Scott Barnes.

“We started at 10 a.m. [Sunday] morning,” Barnes told Elle of J.Lo’s prep process, which continued on and off until the 50-year-old pop star took the stage around 8 p.m.

“My vibe for this was Versace supermodel, the ’90s. It was very Peter Lindbergh shoots with the skirt, the leather, and the hats. And I was like, ‘OMG, this reminds me of Linda [Evangelista], it could be Christy [Turlington], and all of the girls.’ I wanted to give the nod to that, and that’s where the makeup inspiration came from.”

The result? A smoky eye, glossy nude lip and bronzed glow that complemented Lopez’s series of sexy Versace outfits.

“That was the most jam-packed performance I think we’ve ever done,” Barnes told the outlet. “I’ve known Jennifer for 20 years and this was like a career flex in front of our eyes.”
