There’s no pattern to Channing Tatum‘s behavior in a recent Twitter video.
The “Magic Mike” star, 39, posted a bizarre rant about app The Pattern on Friday and is clearly taken aback about how it works.
“I don’t know if I’m late to this or if I’m early to this, but what is this Pattern sh-t? It’s an app — I just downloaded it,” he began in his selfie video. “It just asked me to put in my birthdate and time of birth, by the way, how are you supposed to know your time of birth?”
Tatum continued recalling that while he was in a therapy session on Thursday, — interrupting himself to say, “Yeah, I’m in therapy, everybody should be in therapy” — he got a notification following his appointment that used, “the exact words that we were using in therapy.”
“Are you listening through the phone pattern?” he questioned. “AI, the algorithm that is The Pattern, are you listening through the phone and just regurgitating the stuff I’m afraid of?”
Described as a personality app and categorized as a social media platform, it is designed to “explore your Personal Pattern to gain insight about various sides of your personality,” according to the App Store. “Understanding these dynamics can help you to navigate the difficult times and take advantage of the positive opportunities that you might otherwise miss.”
The app has also been described as an astrology tool on Twitter.
But Tatum was left perplexed and demanded more information.
“You know what, Pattern people? You should just call me. That’s what should happen right now. You should just DM me. If you know so much you know how to get in touch with me, don’t you? So just do that.”
Although it’s unclear whether the app actually contacted the movie star, its Twitter account replied to his rant with two hugging emojis.
Tatum’s rant resulted in a bombardment of users to the app, causing it to crash.
“We’re still working on this!” the company said, addressing a user’s complaint on Saturday morning. “We’re just a small team — but we’re committed to getting this back up & running for all!”
