Twitter ‘inconsistency’ makes Kanye appear to lose millions of followers

Kanye West on Wednesday appeared to lose more than 9 million Twitter followers in the minutes after President Trump retweeted the rapper’s declarations of “love” for the commander in chief — but the social media company insisted the missing followers were still there.

West’s counter showed almost 28 million followers when he tweeted, “You don’t have to agree with Trump but the mob can’t make me not love him. We are both dragon energy. He is my brother.”

But minutes after the president retweeted the post — adding, “Thank you Kanye, very cool!” — his counter plummeted to 18.7 million.

A Twitter spokesperson, however, told The Verge that Kanye remains at around 27 million followers.

“Any fluctuation that people might be seeing is an inconsistency and should be resolved soon,” the spokesman said in a statement.
