Meghan Markle just wants to wear pants

Meghan Markle‘s wowed the fashion crowd in everything from trench dresses to off-the-shoulder pastels over the past couple of months — but pants are reportedly off the menu for the newly minted royal, and she isn’t pleased about it.

The Duchess of Sussex “has found certain rules in the royal household difficult to understand, like the fact that the Queen prefers women in dresses or skirts rather than trouser suits, and is often asking Harry why things have to be done in a certain way,” a source told People.

The source added, “I think she finds it a little frustrating at times, but this is her new life, and she has to deal with it.”

A brief review of Markle’s recent outfits reveals that while the former “Suits” star lived in pants (and even ripped jeans) pre-royal wedding, she’s managed to sneak slacks into her wardrobe rotation only one time since: for her appearance at Wimbledon last weekend.

According to People, eyebrows have also been raised regarding the high price of Markle’s designer duds — particularly since it’s Prince Charles who has to pick up the tab. The publication estimated that the four outfits Markle wore for her recent two-day tour of Ireland, which included looks from the likes of Dior and Givenchy, added up to $36,000.

“She has to rein it in slightly,” the Queen’s former spokesperson Dickie Arbiter told the magazine. “It’s a lot of money in 48 hours.”
