Justin Bieber said Wednesday that he was “just playing” when he challenged Tom Cruise to a mixed martial arts fight earlier this week.
Bieber made the announcement to paparazzi photographers outside his wife Hailey Baldwin’s fashion business in Los Angeles on Wednesday afternoon, according to video posted by TMZ.
“It was just a random tweet. I do that stuff sometimes,” Bieber said, according to the video.
“I think he would probably whoop my ass in a fight,” he added. “He’s got that dad strength.”
The “Sorry” singer, 25, on Sunday challenged Cruise, 56, to a UFC cage fight in a tweet.
“I wanna challenge Tom Cruise to a fight in the octagon,” Bieber tweeted. “Tom if you don’t take this fight your [sic] scared and you will never live it down.”
The 5-foot-9 crooner also asked UFC honcho Dana White if he was willing to put on the bout. It wasn’t clear what prompted the pop idol to throw down the gauntlet to Cruise.
