When Denise Richards invited ex Charlie Sheen to her September wedding to Aaron Phypers, she didn’t care whom her former spouse would bring as his plus one.
“Even if he did bring a prostitute as his date, I wouldn’t care,” the 48-year-old actress said on Tuesday’s episode of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.” “It’s just, it is what it is.”
Richards and Sheen, 53, were married from 2002 to 2006, and share daughters Sam and Lola, now 14 and 13, respectively. The “Wild Things” star said the actor would always be included in special events as they’re still family.
“No matter what’s gone down with Charlie and I, I invite Charlie to anything having to do with the kids and I,” she explained.
Richards initially filed for divorce from Sheen in 2005 while pregnant with Lola. Though their divorce was finalized a year later, the two were embroiled in a legal battle over their daughters’ trust back in 2016.
As for Richards, she’s grateful new husband Phypers, 46, who was previously wed to Nicollette Sheridan, has accepted her family, including daughter Eloise, 7, whom Richards adopted in 2011.
“We have an amazing relationship,” Richards told People. “We love each other for who we are and we don’t judge each other. And for him to embrace a single woman with [three] daughters and an ex-husband with a wonderfully colorful past, it’s a lot. That made me fall in love with him even more.”
