Photographer sues Miley Cyrus for allegedly stealing his picture

Pop star Miley Cyrus was hit with a lawsuit Wednesday for allegedly stealing a photographer’s shot of her at New York Fashion Week and posting it to her Instagram account.

Atlanta-based shooter Chosen Figure took the snap of Cyrus, wearing a crop top, black slacks and red boots, as she left the Marc Jacobs show Feb. 12, according to the suit filed in Manhattan federal court.

The photo later appeared on her Instagram page and garnered 2,618,259 likes.

“Defendants ran the photograph on their website to promote their brand,” wrote lawyer Richard Liebowitz in the suit that also names Cyrus’ company. “Defendants did not license the photograph … nor did defendants have Plaintiff’s permission or consent to publish the photograph.”

The suit seeks $150,000 in damages.

A rep for Cyrus, who recently revealed she is six months sober, couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
