Search resumes for ‘Glee’ star Naya Rivera after boating incident

Authorities resumed the search Thursday morning for former “Glee” actress Naya Rivera after she vanished while boating with her son on a California lake.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department said dive teams will help look for Rivera, 33, in the waters of Lake Piru, about 56 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles.

“The lake will be closed to the public while search operations continue,” the sheriff’s office wrote Thursday on Twitter.

Law enforcement was seen on a boat scouring the lake near the shoreline early Thursday as they continue to hunt for the missing actress, news station KTLA reported.

Rivera is presumed dead after she took out a pontoon boat around 1 p.m. Wednesday with her 4-year-old son, Josey, according to sheriff’s office spokesman Capt. Eric Buschow.

Her son was discovered about three hours later alone and sleeping on the vessel, while Rivera was nowhere to be found, Buschow said.

Dive teams, a helicopter and a drone were dispatched to search for Rivera, but the operation was temporarily suspended overnight.

“We’re going on the belief that she did go in the water and we have not been able to locate her,” Buschow told reporters late Wednesday. “So this may well be a case of drowning.”

Rivera’s son is from a marriage with actor Ryan Dorsey, whom she divorced in June 2018 after nearly four years of marriage.
