Watch Gov. Christie bust a move with Jamie Foxx

Gyrating Gov. Chris Christie wowed a power crowd with his energetic dance with Jamie Foxx at the starry Apollo in the Hamptons benefit Saturday night.

The New Jersey gov proved he’s more than just a political animal as he strutted onstage with Foxx in front of an audience that included Barbra Streisand and James Brolin, Sir Paul McCartney, Jack Nicholson, Anjelica Huston and Robert De Niro.

After performances by Gladys Knight, Jon Bon Jovi, Sting and Pharrell Williams at Ronald Perelman’s East Hampton estate, Oscar winner Foxx called out to Christie in the audience, “I know you’ve got a dance in you, Chris Christie.”

Christie, there as a guest of Bon Jovi, raced to the stage for some rambunctious gyrating. Not to be upstaged, Sen. John McCain then joined Foxx and performed the robot dance before McCartney and Spike Lee showed off more muted moves.

Foxx told us after the show, which raised $4 million for programs at the Harlem venue, that he felt he had to step up on last year’s performance, which saw Colin Powell dance on stage. Of his dancing partners, he added, “Its always the ones you don’t expect. Republicans love to dance — in the Hamptons.”

Other guests at the benefit, at which some tables went for over $100,000, included Don Johnson, Roger Waters, Penny Marshall, BET’s Debra Lee, Howard Stern, Donna Karan, and Hollywood moguls Ron Meyer, Brad Grey and Harvey Weinstein.

Business titans included AmEx CEO Ken Chenault, Apollo board chair Dick Parsons, Viacom’s Philippe Dauman, hedge fund moguls Paul Tudor Jones and David Tepper, billionaire Len Blavatnik, LionTree’s Aryeh Bourkoff, and anchors Charlie Rose, Bill O’Reilly, Matt Lauer, Rosanna Scotto and George Stephanopoulos.

Christie’s moves even won the approval of the most famous carouser of them all: Jack Nicholson, who told us, in his famous smoky drawl, “That was one hell of a night. Christie really held his own. I told him, as he walked back to his seat, ‘Governor, you can’t let New Jersey down.’”
