No one can accuse John Lithgow of being typecast.
One night after he ended his run as King Lear at “Shakespeare in the Park,” Lithgow brought tears to a crowd at the Cinema Society premiere of “Love Is Strange.”
The Emmy- and Tony-winning Lithgow plays the longtime lover of Alfred Molina, and the two walked up to the stage at the Tribeca Grand hand-in-hand, like the on-screen couple they play. Director Ira Sachs had a special guest in the audience — his 102-year-old grandmother.
Also at the Sony Pictures Classics premiere were Marisa Tomei, who co-starred in the film, as well as Parker Posey, Denis O’Hare, Paul Haggis and Billy Magnussen. Sony Pictures Classics co-president Tom Bernard lightened the mood at the Jimmy after-party, photobombing a cast photo.
