Conor Oberst wants rape accuser to pay in defamation suit

Conor Oberst, singer of Bright Eyes, is suing the woman who allegedly lied about him raping her in the comments section of an xoJane.com.

According to documents obtained by TMZ, Oberst, 34, filed a defamation suit against Joanie Faircloth for $1.2 million. Faircloth originally claimed she was raped by the singer on her 16th birthday, after a 2003 concert in North Carolina.

Since the legal battle began in February, Faircloth has yet to appear for any hearings.

Oberst said in the suit, “She’s a pathological liar with a well-documented history of spinning tales and fabricating sexually themed stories about others to benefit herself.”
