Leibovitz was ‘never confirmed’ for Kim and Kanye’s wedding

Kanye West and Annie Leibovitz have released a “joint statement” about West’s inflammatory comments in Cannes.

“Although Kanye expressed frustration that he was not able to collaborate with Annie Leibovitz at his recent wedding, he is not assigning blame, and is not accusing Annie in any way,” reads the statement from Def Jam.

According to the release, West, 37, and Leibovitz, 64, were in “negotiations for weeks,” which weren’t completed in time for the wedding.

“Annie would have been happy to do the portrait but she was never confirmed,” said a rep for the famed photographer. The statement emphasizes that Leibovitz, who is responsible for West and Kim Kardashian’s Vogue cover, is not known for shooting weddings.

West sent the Internet into a tizzy Wednesday when he blasted Leibovitz for allegedly backing out of photographing his Italian wedding the day before the event. “She was afraid of celebrity,” commented West.

As a result of Leibovitz’s absence, West spent four days producing the couple’s official photo to perfection.
