There’s a feud brewing between the old school and the new school.
On Thursday morning, TLC appeared on Australia’s Sunrise 7 ahead of a concert in Sydney, saying today’s pop stars rely too much on sex to sell records.
“Every time I see you, you don’t have to be naked,” Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, 44, said of Rihanna. “It’s hard for us to say anything because anytime we do, they say, ‘Oh TLC must be jealous,’ but I call a spade a spade.”
Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, 43, agreed with the sentiment, adding, “We became the biggest girl selling group of all time with our clothes on and that says a lot.”
In true Rihanna fashion, the 26-year-old didn’t launch into a Twitter tirade or get angry. She simply got even.
She posted a series of photos of herself laughing, then sticking her tongue out. “When there’s no changing the fact that I’m me, and they’re well… they’re them,” she tweeted right afterwards.
To add fuel to the fire, Rihanna changed her Twitter header to a topless photo of TLC, taken in their heyday.
