‘Scandal’ actor allegedly threatens wife with murder-suicide

Columbus Short needs more help than even Olivia Pope can provide this time.

The troubled actor, 31, allegedly threatened to kill his wife and himself with a knife on April 7, TMZ reports. He has since been thrown out of the house and his wife has filed for divorce.

According to a restraining order obtained by the website, Columbus and his wife, Tuere, got into an argument at their Los Angeles-area home after the actor returned home intoxicated.

After pouring wine on his wife, the actor allegedly got a knife and pinned her to a couch. He proceeded to list men he accused her of having affairs with, threatening to cut her if she admitted any involvement with said men. When she denied them all, Columbus put the knife to her neck and threatened to commit murder and then suicide.

Columbus was arrested and charged with criminal domestic violence following the incident. He was also charged with child abuse since the couple’s child and his son from a previous relationship were in the house.

Tuere filed for divorce on Tuesday, asking for sole custody of the couple’s 2-year-old daughter.

In a statement released by his publicist on Thursday, Columbus said, “As you all know, lately my personal life has been subjected to a lot of press. As much as I would like to provide my side of events, my counsel has instructed me that a court of law is the only and proper venue to deal with such matters. Accordingly, I must refrain from making any comments even though that is very difficult for me under the circumstances. Thank you to my fans for your continued support during this difficult time.”

This is just the latest violent incident for Columbus. Last month, he allegedly knocked out a man at a family member’s engagement party. Criminal charges were not pressed in lieu of a settlement.

It’s also the third time the actor has been arrested following an altercation with his wife since February.
