Bryan Singer calls sex abuse allegations ‘sick twisted shakedown’

Director Bryan Singer has finally broken his silence regarding the explosive sexual abuse allegations made against him.

“The allegations against me are outrageous, vicious and completely false,” the director said in a statement Thursday, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

The 48-year-old filmmaker went on to say that he doesn’t want accuser Michael Egan‘s lawsuit to take away from his latest film, “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” which opens next month, and will be skipping media events as a result.

“I do not want these fictitious claims to divert ANY attention from ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past.’ This fantastic film is a labor of love and one of the greatest experiences of my career. So, out of respect to all of the extraordinary contributions from the incredibly talented actors and crew involved, I’ve decided not to participate in the upcoming media events for the film.”

Singer added that he would eventually be exonerated.

“However, I promise when this situation is over, the facts will show this to be the sick twisted shakedown it is,” he added.

Last week, reports emerged that Egan, 31, was suing Singer, alleging that the filmmaker had sexually abused him at a series of lurid Hollywood parties and trips (specifically to Hawaii) when he was just 17.

On Monday, Egan’s lawyer also brought lawsuits against three other Hollywood figures — Garth Ancier, Gary Wayne Goddard and David A. Neuman — alleging that they also molested him when he was a minor.
