Toni Morrison geeks over ‘The Wire’ introduction

Toni Morrison is such a fan of “The Wire,” the one guest she wanted to meet at the book party for Lisa Robinson’s “There Goes Gravity” was Michael Kenneth Williams, who played Omar Little on the HBO show.

Giving short shrift to Clive Davis, Tony Bennett, Francesco Clemente, Questlove, Ed Burns and Christy Turlington at the Monkey Room, the Pulitzer and Nobel Prize-winning author asked rock ’n’ roll writer Robinson to introduce her to Williams and then professed her fandom.

Also at the bash hosted by Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter and Fran Lebowitz, Debbie Harry, who crossed paths with John Varvatos, whose eponymous clothing store now occupies the former space of CBGB, the club where Harry launched her career.
