Peaches Geldof laid to rest in extravagant casket

British socialite Peaches Geldof was laid to rest in southern England Monday in a casket adorned with a heartwarming portrait of her family and pets.

The funeral for the 25-year-old daughter of rocker Bob Geldof drew celebrities including supermodel Kate Moss, Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson, former Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman and model Alexa Chung.

The Boomtown Rats singer, 62, and his other daughter, Pixie, 23, also attended the private service.

While cameras were not allowed in the Faversham church, photographers outside captured images of Peaches Geldof’s white and sky-blue coffin.

At the head of the casket was a painting of Peaches, her rocker husband Tom Cohen, their sons — Astala, 23 months, and Phaedra, 11 months — and their two dogs and cat.

The sides were painted with images of clouds, flowers — and peaches.

The service was at St. Mary Magdalene and St. Lawrence Church, where Peaches married Cohen in 2012 and where the funeral for her mother, Paula Yates, was held in 2000.

Bob Geldof’s neighbor and friend Jacqi Hitchcock fondly recalled Peaches.

“I remember Peaches as a lovely girl. As a child, she was happy, creative and so very beautiful,” Hitchcock told the Kent Messenger newspaper.

“I haven’t seen her in Faversham since her wedding, but she was the most beautiful bride I have ever seen.”

The Rev. Tracey Bateson, who led Monday’s service, said she hoped to bring comfort to Bob Geldof.

“I will be there for him as much as possible, just as I would with any other parishioners,” Bateson said.

Peaches Geldof was found dead in her apartment in Wrotham, England, on April 7.

Toxicology test results are pending. Foul play has been ruled out.

Her mom died of a heroin overdose.

Shortly after Peaches died, Bob Geldof called her the “wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us.”
