Samantha Power touts Hillary Clinton for president

UN Ambassador Samantha Power gave an about-face on Hillary Clinton Wednesday night at the Fortune Most Powerful Women dinner at Time Warner Center.

Former Obama campaign adviser Power famously called Clinton “a monster” during the 2008 presidential campaign, for which she later apologized.

But while addressing dinner attendees — including NBC News president Deborah Turness, Savannah Guthrie, Dina Powell, Gayle King, Aerin Lauder and Martha Stewart — Power said having presumptive 2016 candidate Clinton as the first female commander-in-chief would be “awesome.”

Power said, “Having watched her lead this country . . . the good that she can do just by getting off a plane . . . I can’t even begin to sort of find words to capture that. She brings such rigor and reflection to really everything she touches, from the domestic agenda, kids and the empowerment of women to some of the hardest-core national security concerns of proliferation.”

Clinton aide Huma Abedin seemed to appreciate the support. She and Power were seen chatting later.
