New York landmark Tavern on the Green booked 600 reservations for its debut weekend brunch on Mother’s Day, May 11, almost immediately, insiders tell Page Six.
The long-shuttered, iconic, 1934-built restaurant, which closed in 2009 and is reopening under new owners, Philadelphia restaurateurs Jim Caiola and David Salama, will hold a preview dinner April 24 and a grand opening gala May 12.
According to the insider, the renovated space, said to be half the size of the original, is “bucolic” and features a light-fixture mobile of flying horses that rotates over the bar, created by designer Robert Ogden.
The American “ingredient driven” menu has been devised by executive chef Katy Sparks.
