Glam squad, borrowed gems & one stylish tot: Kate Middleton in New Zealand

They’ve arrived.

From April 7 until April 25, the Duke, Duchess and Prince of Cambridge are taking New Zealand, exploring the country’s customs, meeting with their leaders and having some fun along the way.

Just two days into their adventure, William and Kate have already met with the scantily clad Maori and George seems to have made some friends at his public engagement.

Here’s what we’re loving so far.

  1. 1. At just eight months, Prince George is already a style icon

Wellington New Zealand Victoria Prince George has arrived for his very first public engagement.

Between that furrowed brow — perhaps he’s channeling another infant icon, Vogue star North West? — and that flipped collar, the littlest royal has already got his look down pat. During his first public engagement, George met with 10 parents and their children at Government House in Wellington. All of the babies were born within a week or two of George’s July 22nd birthday. Do Cancers and Leos make a good match?

  2. 2. Kate's son (and hair) are being well looked after

The Duchess may be nearly 12,000 miles from home, but her glam squad isn’t far behind. Kate’s trusted hair stylist (who handled her trademark locks when Duchess introduced Prince George to the world outside of St. Mary’s Hospital in July), Amanda Cook Tucker, made the trip. Also in tow? Prince George’s nanny, Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, who was recently hired.

  3. 3. Kate's wearing something we can buy stateside (and it's on sale!)

During George’s playdate debut, Kate — an advocate of accessible fashion — rocked a dress made by an American designer … and it’s on sale.

For her meeting of the moms and dads, Kate chose Tory Burch’s Paulina dress, a black and white printed frock the line describes as “classic meetings eclectic in a ladylike silhouette with a graphic, open knit and textural fringe.” While it retails for $395, it’s been marked down to $237. A royal bargain.

  4. 4. Something borrowed, something red

Kate’s red Catherine Walker coat might be seen as an homage to the late Princess Diana, who deplaned in a similar look upon her arrival in New Zealand in 1984. But unlike Diana, Kate traveled with a special piece of jewelry on loan from the Queen: her fern diamond-and-platinum brooch, the Daily Mail reports. The Queen wore it during her 1953 trip to the region.
