Joan Rivers slams Lena Dunham: ‘Try to look better’

Joan Rivers has lashed out at young female celebrity, yet again.

This time the controversial “E! Fashion Police” host has attacked “Girls” creator and star, Lena Dunham, over her weight and fashion sense.

“Lena Dunham, who I think is again terrific, how can she wear dresses above the knee?” the 80-year-old asked Howard Stern on his Sirius XM radio show.

The US shock jock challenged Rivers, saying: “Well, I think the thing we love about her is that she doesn’t give a s—t … She did a whole [Girls] episode in a bikini. It was the funniest f—king thing I ever saw.”

Stern’s co-anchor Robin Quivers added: “And it think that’s what she’s going for: Just because I don’t look like a bikini girl, I want a bikini.”

“But that’s wrong,” Rivers argued. “You’re sending a message out to people saying ‘it’s okay! Stay fat! Get diabetes. Everybody die. Lose your fingers.'”

Stern fired back this zinger: “But why not? Men have been doing that for years.”

Rivers admitted that she finds the 27-year-old “funny”, but finished with: “If you look the way you look, Lena, and that’s fine and you’re funny, don’t say it’s OK that other girls can look like this … Try to look better.”

Dunham’s nudity on the hit HBO series has been a hot topic of conversation throughout the show’s three-season run, and she’s faced plenty of criticism over her right to bare all on television.

Last year, Stern himself referred to Dunham as a “little fat girl who looks like Jonah Hill and keeps taking her clothes off.” He later apologized when Dunham called in to defend herself.

The Golden Globe winner has made no secret of the fact that she’s no size zero and certainly has her fair share of staunch defenders against the body haters.

As for Lena’s controversial Vogue cover which was accused of being “heavily Photoshopped”, Rivers said: “She was on Vogue’s cover looking gorgeous. You didn’t know it was her.”
