Simon Cowell rushed to New York as his pregnant girlfriend Lauren Silverman checked into Lenox Hill Hospital, sparking rumors she had gone into labor.
The music mogul hopped on a private jet from London to join Silverman at the Upper East Side hospital.
Cowell has confirmed the couple are expecting a boy, and plan on naming him Simon.
UK reports said Cowell, 54, was due to attend “Britain’s Got Talent” auditions in London today, but jumped on a jet because Lauren, 37, went into labor two weeks before her due date, which was February 28.
According to Mailonline, earlier this week Cowell said: ‘I am keeping my phone on during auditions 100 per cent. If it happens I have to go and dash on a plane. I probably will be nervous when it all happens. I am going to watch (movie) Father of the Bride tonight to get used to that. I have got a feeling my child is going to be really naughty.”
And, “‘I haven’t changed a nappy before and I won’t. I just can’t do it. I’d like to be at the birth but a little but far away.’
News of Lauren’s pregnancy broke in July of last year- while the New York socialite was still married to ex-husband Andrew Silverman, with whom she has a son, Adam. The couple subsequently divorced and Cowell rented a $26,000 a month Manhattan apartment for Lauren.
