Eric Schmidt buys new home nearby Playboy Mansion: sources

Google mogul Eric Schmidt has just bought a $22 million Los Angeles estate that once belonged to Veronique Peck, the late wife of Hollywood legend Gregory Peck, sources said.

Conveniently for the tech ladies’ man, the estate in the exclusive enclave of Holmby Hills is right nearby Hugh Hefner’s Playboy Mansion. Schmidt’s 9,182-square-foot, seven-bedroom “French chateau” was listed for $24.9 million.

It was originally built in 1932 and sits on just more than 1.3 acres. According to a listing, the home features “three family bedroom suites, an office and a master suite with terrace, fireplace, his-and-her baths, dressing rooms and walk-in closets.”

Its outdoor areas offer “a serene setting and great space for entertaining with abundant patio space, expansive . . . parklike grounds, manicured gardens” and a pool.

To Schmidt, the pad’s price is mere pocket change: Google revealed last week that, as the company’s executive chairman, he’ll make $106 million in bonuses based on the search giant’s performance in 2013.

His net worth was recently estimated as $8.3 billion.
