Troubled pop singer Justin Bieber turned himself in to Toronto police Wednesday night and was charged with assault for allegedly hitting a limo driver several times in the head last month.

Bieber arrived amid a screaming crowd of young women and was ushered though a side door at a police station, according to the Toronto Star.

“Looks like Lindsay Lohan has competition now,” one amused cop told the newspaper.

Bieber was charged with one count of assault and is set to appear in court on March 10.

He and pals were being driven from a nightclub to a hotel on Dec. 30 when the alleged altercation occurred, authorities said.

Earlier in the day, attorneys for the 19-year-old singer pleaded not guilty on his behalf to Florida charges of DUI, resisting arrest and driving with an expired license.

Bieber’s attorney filed the written plea Wednesday in Miami-Dade County. Bieber has an arraignment set for Feb. 14, but Florida law doesn’t require the pop star to be present.

Bieber and R&B singer Khalil Amir Sharieff were arrested last week in Miami Beach during what authorities described as an illegal street drag race. Bieber also remains under investigation for felony vandalism in Los Angeles County over an egg-tossing episode that damaged his neighbor’s home.
