Uber gets backlash at Sundance

After being called out in the press over its exorbitant “Surge Pricing” at peak times, high-tech car service Uber has been getting backlash from New Yorkers at Sundance.

Bungalow 8’s Amy Sacco posted a pic of her receipt for $152 with the caption “#uber #really?”

Another visitor was heard complaining about spending $175, said they’d dispute their charge, and that their driver “took a call from someone trying to get drugs for [a New York DJ] in town.” The driver declined the request, we hear.

Another media type was charged $200 to travel 11 miles. Uber said: “Demand has been incredibly high . . . we implement surge pricing to get more cars on the road quickly.” And, “Every driver that uses Uber’s platform must pass an extensive background check.”
