‘American Idol’ alum Kellie Pickler gets engaged

Country star and “American Idol” alum, Kellie Pickler, got engaged to songwriter Kyle Jacobs on June 15, the day of her late grandmother’s birthday, FOXNews.com reported Wednesday.

“It turned out to be the most amazing day of my life,” the singer told People magazine. “My whole world changed. We both feel like we got my grandmother’s blessing.”

Pickler, 23, said Jacobs planned the proposal on a Florida beach at sunset.

“Afterward, we just held each other and had the most beautiful prayer,” Jacobs told the magazine.

“We had a little champagne and talked and laughed and cried.”

Pickler joins fellow country brides-to-be Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood who is also a former “Idol” star.

“We’re all just happy for each other,” Pickler says. “I’m sure we’ll be having some girl talk and we’ll share ideas. We just keep joking about how there must be something in the water!”

In 2006, Pickler was a contestant on the fifth season of “American Idol,” finishing in sixth place.
