Jerry Springer high on Spitzer show

Jaws dropped when Eliot Spitzer was tapped to co-host a prime-time CNN show, but Jerry Springer — the original hooker-loving ex-pol turned TV star — thinks it’s a great idea. “He’s used to being in front of people. Its not like you’re taking a guy who used to be an accountant,” Springer told The Post’s Jennifer Fermino. But Spitzer should avoid topics like “Gay Cousins in Love.” “It’s CNN. He should do a political show,” said Springer, a former Cincinnati councilman who quit over a session with a prostitute but was later re-elected. Not likely to tune in is Ashley Dupre, the escort whose dalliance with Spitzer ended his political career. “I’ve never really cared what he’s had to say before, and I don’t see that changing,” Dupre, a Post columnist, said. Nassau County DA Kathleen Rice, who’s running for attorney general, hinted Spitzer got off easy. She said on Post State Editor Fred Dicker‘s Albany radio show, “If the prostitute gets arrested, the john should get arrested.”
