British actress Carey Mulligan parts ways with beau Shia LaBeouf: report

British actress Carey Mulligan has split from her “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps” costar Shia LaBeouf, sources told People magazine Tuesday.

Sources close to the couple, who started dating in August 2009, said the pair split up “some time ago.” They met when they were cast as an on-screen couple in the sequel to the finance drama directed by Oliver Stone.

Stone talked about the pair’s off-screen chemistry in an interview with the celebrity magazine.

“You could see their chemistry right away, and it was pretty powerful. They were completely professional on the set, but there was no mistaking what was happening,” Stone said at the film’s premiere at Cannes in May.

“I seem to be a good casting director,” he joked.

The newly single Mulligan is now living at a Los Angeles Best Western hotel after the break-up as she works on a new indie film, “Drive.”

“I don’t know why people are so down on the Best Western,” the press-shy London native said at an award show Monday.

“They have the best sweet potato fries,” the 25-year-old added.

LaBeouf, 24, was previously linked to his “Transformers” costar Megan Fox and songstress Rihanna. He is known for his run-ins with the law after being arrested for trespassing in 2007 and drunk driving in 2008.

He was later cleared in the 2008 car accident, after Los Angeles police determined the other driver had run a red light.
