Kim Kardashian was close to tears as she spoke about losing her dad, Robert, to cancer in 2003 at Denise Rich‘s Angel Ball for cancer research Thursday night. The curvy star said, “My father did pass away of cancer, so it is an event that is close to my heart.” Kim also told us she was enjoying filming her new reality show in New York, noting, “This is a good place for me right now. I love it here.”
Asked if she had started dating men in the city, she said, “I hope it happens, I am not looking for it, but I’ll be happy if it comes to me.” She then headed to her own private party where she continued her 30th birthday celebrations on a yacht at Chelsea Piers with friends including Kanye West. Other stars at Rich’s ball included U2’s The Edge — who performed with Sam Moore — Ne-Yo, Napster founder Sean Parker (who was chatting about the future of the music industry with The Edge) and industry legend Clive Davis.
