H’wood soiree for newlyweds

New York Giants co-owner and movie producer Steve Tisch is planning an intimate Hollywood party to welcome royal newlyweds William and Catherine to California in July.

Tisch, producer of movies including “Risky Business” and Oscar-winning “Forrest Gump,” hopes to host a small gathering for the new Duke and Duchess of Cambridge when they visit the Golden State.

Sources tell us: “It would be William and Catherine’s introduction to Hollywood, and while it will be a relatively small event, around 30 couples, there will be some big names in the room.” But another source added: “The itinerary for the royal visit is still being worked out, so nothing has been confirmed as yet.”

Guests at the proposed bash, which would be held at Tisch’s mansion, could include top studio moguls and actors. Tisch’s link to the royal couple is not clear, but he was executive producer on the Guy Ritchie movies “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels” and “Snatch.” Ritchie, who once was married to Madonna, is Kate Middleton’s sixth cousin and was a guest at their wedding at Westminster Abbey on April 29.

Tisch is a partner in Escape Artists, a film production company based at Sony Pictures Entertainment. Calls to his office and e-mails to Tisch were not returned.

William and Kate, who are currently on their honeymoon, are due to visit California July 8 and 9 following a trip to Canada. The provisional itinerary for their whirlwind US trip reportedly includes a Hollywood party, while other reports said they may meet former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, take a whistle-stop tour of Yosemite National Park, the Big Sur coast and a poverty program. It will be the first time William has visited the US in an official capacity, and the only time Kate has ever been to the country.

A spokeswoman for the British Embassy in Washington said the details of the visit were still being worked out with Clarence House, the official London residence and office of Prince William, and added: “No program for the visit has yet been announced.” Clarence House was not available for comment.
