Concern grows over Rihanna’s health, drinking: reports

Friends and record label executives are becoming increasingly worried about Rihanna’s well being after she had an alleged backstage freakout in Ireland last Friday and was hospitalized on Oct. 31 in Sweden, reports say. Allegedly, best friend Katy Perry is also concerned about Rihanna’s drinking.

Star magazine reports that Perry and her husband Russell Brand have expressed their worries to Rihanna. “Katy begged Rihanna to take some time off and get therapy,” a source told the magazine. “Rihanna’s been running on empty. And rather than resting, she’s drinking and clubbing until the early hours of the morning … She calls Katy in tears, saying how down she is.”

In backstage photos of Rihanna released via Facebook, the singer holds a drink in her hand in several images.

The Barbadian pop star has been given a curfew and is on 24-hour health watch, according to The Mirror. She is currently in London on her “Loud” tour, which began in June and continues through the end of the month. In London alone, she is performing 10 concerts in addition to promoting her new album, “Talk That Talk.”

Last night Rihanna tweeted, “Just got bk from shooting #YouDaOne music video! #longday London O2 7 of 10 tonight.”

Last week, before a concert in Ireland, Rihanna threw a Thanksgiving feast at a Dublin bar, according to The Sun. Afterward, she felt exhausted and reportedly considered cancelling the show. A source tells the newspaper that Rihanna was inspired to go on with the concert after making a call to pal Beyoncé. Apparently, Beyoncé has suggested to Rihanna taking a year off after this tour.

“She knows Rihanna needs downtime or she’ll burn out,” a source explained.

This came just weeks after Rihanna did cancel a show in Malmö, Sweden. Rihanna told fans that she had come down with the flu. She tweeted a photo of her arm with an IV stuck in it. “I am sorry to everyone who was coming out to my show in Malmo,” she said. “I was so excited to perform for you all.”
