Supermodel Christie Brinkley’s lawyer says that her ex-husband, Hamptons architect Peter Cook, is “spewing demonstrably false lies” on a “self-serving circus-like publicity tour.”

Brinkley’s lawyer made these comments after Cook sat down for an interview this morning with ABC News and accused Brinkley, with whom he had one of the nastiest divorce proceedings in recent memory, of making their most recent legal skirmish public “to coincide with her return to the stage in ‘Chicago.'”

“Peter Cook is the only one to go on national television spewing sexist, disgraceful, demonstrably false lies, which gives a taste of the bullying and harassment Christie has had to endure,” Brinkley’s lawyer tells Page Six in a statement. “Christie quietly filed a motion four months ago to try and put an end to Peter’s pattern of intimidation and ongoing smear campaign, but sadly, he responded by turning it into a self-serving circus-like publicity tour, yet again.”

Page Six reported yesterdaythat Brinkley and Cook were headed toward a new public trial, four years after their very public divorce following Cook’s admission to an affair with an 18-year-old. Sources told Page Six that Brinkley was seeking $140,000 because of a nasty email Cook sent her, violating a clause in their divorce agreement barring aggressive communication.

During his ABC News interview, Cook calls Brinkley’s claim “hollow and baseless.”

He also added, “She can use her celebrity to get the media to say ‘He’s a bad guy.’ You know, I’m not trying to sell tickets to anything. I don’t want this press … Go do a charitable act or something [to] get your name in the paper. But stop throwing your family under the bus.”

Cook revealed that he had filed paperwork of his own, alleging that Brinkley should return child support money already paid out as he has been the primary caregiver to the couple’s two teenage children while she is working on Broadway.

Brinkley’s lawyer says that that Cook’s claims are “delusional” and that the supermodel has sole custody of the kids.

Still, Cook holds that he wants the battling to stop.

“The real victim in this is not me. It’s the kids, who have to have this re-hashed and brought back in the public eye over and over and over again,” he said. “It’s unnecessary. I’m a good father. I love my kids. I accept my responsibilities with my children. I accept my legal responsibilities to her. I follow the rules and all I ask is that she do the same thing.”
