Madonna’s manager has responded to claims made by “Girls Gone Wild” honcho Joe Francis that the Material Girl changed the name of a song because he sent a cease-and-desist letter, calling the report “laughable.”
The song in question was originally titled “Girls Gone Wild,” but has since been changed to “Girl Gone Wild.” However, Madonna’s manager Guy Oseary tells TMZ that the change had nothing to do with the letter Frances claimed to have sent. Oseary says the song title was altered as part of the normal album revising process. Specifically, Oseary says the title was changed simply to match the way Madonna enunciated the word in the song.

Oseary furthers that no one on Madge’s team received such a cease-and-desist letter from Francis. And he tops it all by telling the site that Madonna is unaware of who Francis is.
Francis had sounded off on Madonna’s song title “Girls Gone Wild” shortly before the Super Bowl, telling TMZ that his lawyer had sent a letter threatening legal action if the singer performed the song during the halftime show.
Because Madonna did not sing the song at the Super Bowl, and subsequently changed a letter of the title, Francis claimed victory yesterday.
“Clearly her label was trying to avoid legal action surrounding the song,” Francis told TMZ. “But [the new title] is still infringement as far as the law is concerned, and we have been in touch with Madonna’s people in an effort to resolve this issue.”
